声量の大きなボーカルや単にマイクに近づき過ぎて入力過大になっていると、波形上では潰れずに余裕があっても中高域で音割れに近い雑味（以後雑味と表現）が中高域にランダムに発生します。
マイクプリアンプ（オーディオI/F)やマイク自体の品質にもよりますが、当方にトラック修復を依頼するアマチュアミュージシャンの半数はこのトラック状態。録音がデジタルベースとなったことで収録時にコンプレッサーでピークを抑える処理ができない方が多いのも原因のひとつ。
声量の強弱の大きくかつマイクの距離感を調整できないボーカリストの録音は専門プロでも簡単ではありません。
オケに混ぜて聴くとよく分からない雑味ですがボーカルトラックのみソロモニターするとボーカルが張った部分で歌と関係ない音が「ピキキ～」「ジリジリ～」、と鳴ってしまうことも。もちろんパソコンの低品質スピーカーや安価なヘッドフォンではここに気づかずミックス作業で「なんかしっくりしない」と、煮詰まります。
高品質でモニターすると金網が細かな振動で震えるようなジリジリ、ピキッという音がボーカルの強いビブラートや声量とともに発生します。
レベル上ではピークまでバッファがあっても音割れに近い雑味はエフェクトを重ねていくうち強調されてしまいます。
これらを処理するためにはスペクトラムグラフ表示ができるiZotopeRXなどで帯域上のピークを見極め（聴き分け）ピンポイント修復やボリューム調整を行う必要があります。
ボーカルの録り直しをオススメすることも
レストレーション（音声修復）処理は軽度なものなら殆ど違和感なく修復できますが、全編に渡り処理数が多いと歌声の艶のような美味しい成分が軽減され、歌の艶が無くなってしまいます。
先日ミックスマスタリング 依頼いただいたクライアントさんには結局この作業まで行ってから大事なエッセンスが削られてしまうことから録音し直しを提案しました。
マイクセッティングを変更して録音をやり直すとしても、微妙な録音品質を聴き分ける耳とそれなりに高品質のモニターヘッドフォンは必須なので音楽制作で定番のものはチェックしておいた方が賢明です。
ダイナミックマイクの方がむしろ良い場合も
しっかり防音・吸音（部屋の響きを押さえる）できない普通の部屋での宅録やリハスタしか利用できない場合、リハスタでも定番のSM-58ダイナミックマイクの使用が ぶっちゃけおすすめです。
超高品位なワールドクラスの作品を発表しているビョークやブライアンイーノの最新作もメインのボーカルマイクはSM-58。全く問題ないクオリティですし、バンド用のリハスタならタダでレンタルできます。
むしろ宅録環境下ではノイズや雑味を含んだコンデンサーマイク収録より良い結果を生むケースは少なくありません。
